Snow balls!

Another flimsy almost finished for Project Linus - National Make a
Blanket Day, Feb 18th. At the last “Prep” meeting I was given a
bag of material to take home to cut 2½” strips for the quilt kits
and play with if time allowed. I cut some 8½” squares and ended
up with this snow ball project, two more rows to add (size 40”x56”).
This went together quickly and I'm pleased with the black corners on
all the pink.

I've linked over to Patchwork Times. Check out the other projects.

Project Linus - reconstruction of a quilt

Between errands, projects and cleaning I have been working on getting flimsies ready for Project Linus - National Make a Blanket Day, Feb 18th. There is another preparation meeting this coming Wednesday to put quilt kits together for the volunteer quilters coming on the 18th. I finished reconstructing the extra project that came home with me at the last meeting and added borders. The green and white center was in one long piece along with many wavy lines and did not lay flat. Measured some of the squares, cut 1 3/4” -2 ½”. Finally got it to lay flat and if not inspected too closely it looks nice. Approximately a 52” square. It's ready to be tied or quilted on the 18th.

The local chapter of Project Linus not only supports the medical community but supports Family Services and TAPS.org.

Friday Finish Animal Quilt

Finished a Baby Quilt this week. Fun little project with the animal print. A quick project with 4"x6" bricks quilted in the ditch.  The colors are brighter then the photo shows, the golden yellow is very washed out on my screen.

Check out the other Friday finishes at Crazy Mom Quilts.

Friday Finish

I am counting three “Finishes”, but did cheat a little.

The last 2 weeks I have been looking over my UFO pile along with my pile of
current projects and thought I needed to kick some of these house guests out.
Some have been here for 3-4 years! A fellow crafter sent me an Email about
Project Linus having “National Make a Blanket Day”, Feb 18th. Great luck, the
local chapter was having a planning meeting Jan 12th. Several of the UFOs
were headed for this organization, they just remained in the flimsy stage, never
maturing to a completed quilt. Shopping for backs is not a priority. Yes, it was a
little selfish on my part to gather up some of the UFOs and attend the meeting,
but I went with 4 items, and 3 are out of my hands completely. Mission
accomplished, well not exactly. I came home with 2. See the math does not add up.

Here are photos of my finished items, fun, easy, quick quilts.

It was a nice afternoon meeting the other quilters, picking and cutting backings
for my UFOs and other donated flimsies. My UFO that came home with me
that needs a border and they even had fabric for that.
No picture of the extra project I came home with that needs reconstruction and
borders.

They are having another meeting in 2 weeks so maybe I can get rid finish
a few more UFOs.
